Why I didn't want to start this blog

Inspired by my sister's first blog post

I am a perfectionist, I don't enjoy writing and I never take pictures. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

This all started when I attended a PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) conference in Boston a few months ago. In one of the sessions, the keynote speaker discussed how important it is that we (the supposed PR professionals) leave a digital footprint -- as in a personal website. As it is, I don't have a Twitter account, which is already frowned upon considering the industry I'm in, and I barely use FaceBook and Instagram. So naturally, I got anxiety.

I was quick to hire my amazingly talented, well-connected, intelligent sister and her amazingly talented, well-connected, intelligent boyfriend to help me set up my first website. Needless to say, it's taken me 5 months, 2 websites, 10 templates, 1 domain and endless customer service calls to get to this point. And it's STILL not exactly how I wanted it. Sigh. C'est la vie.

So why did I give in to starting this blog? Well, if you're reading this, then you probably know that I will be in and out of the country for the next six months. I went back and forth and it turns out that this is the most efficient way of keeping all my people in the loop (assuming I don't want to repeat stories and share photos a million and one times, which I definitely do not).

But first, a few disclaimers.

  1. I will not post as regularly as regular bloggers do. I will also stress out about the fact that I will not post as regularly as regular bloggers do.
  2. As you may have read in the "About Me" section, I do not know exactly how I want to use this website. So yes, things may get weird.
  3. I am incredibly indecisive (see third paragraph of this post). So if this website disappears tomorrow, you'll know why.

Other than that, sit back, relax and if you'd like to keep up with my travels, here it is.
